Front End Development

At Voicent, besides back-end work, my tasks involved bootstrapping the entire website, along with the Wordpress blogs and Ecommerce portion. The entire process of redesigning their 5000+ pages took me a month. I also inserted Rich Snippets and updated their meta tags, and wrote blog posts for SEO.

Photoshopping

Photoshop and photo manipulation for web content played a huge role when I was working on the website's front-end. This project allowed me to brush up on my photography and photoshopping skills. As a result, I was able to update many of the old images with newer, modern images.

Back-end Development

Though the front-end development work was on me, for back-end I worked on a 4-person team. I helped optimize the rapid sending/retrieval of thousands of queries to ApacheDB that came from the software program's threads. This involved extensive testing, and allowed us to increase the maximum number of program threads from 1000 to over 10,000. Those program threads were for handling a client's simultaneous phone calls. This meant a large call center client could have 10,000 phone lines instead of 1000 phone lines.

Back-end Development Part 2

After getting comfortable with PHP frameworks and plugins like Laravel and Memcached, I proposed a project to provide Voicent with more business intelligence. Given the go-ahead, I made a secure web portal for generating reports. I wrote code in PHP and SQL that pulled data from the CRM, passed it to the web page through JSON/AJAX, and rendered it in HTML/CSS/javascript with the JQuery FlotJS plugin. I based the reports off of key sales metrics to show how customer retention was doing, how sticky their cloud service was, and so on. Admins could also generate custom reports.
